REWIND: Michael's Birthday - February 19, 2012

For Michael's birthday, we had dinner at Little Sheep Mongolian Hot Pot Restaurant in Union City.  It's on the corner of Decoto and Alvarado Niles, where Carrows used to be.

Hot Pot dining consists of having a simmering pot of broth on the table and dipping pieces of raw meat, seafood, dumplings, vegetables in the broth to cook.

After dinner, we came back home to sing Happy Birthday to Michael and have the birthday cake -- mango cake from Red Ribbon.

REWIND: Beth Gastrock - February 18, 2012

My good friend from high school, Beth Gastrock -- who now lives in Chico, 4 hours by car from Union City -- was in the Bay Area one weekend last February.  She, her husband, a daughter and 2 grandchildren, were doing some shopping in San Francisco.  They ended up near where I live because they had gone to Nayong Pilipino restaurant in Hayward.

She surprised me with a phone call saying she was coming in a few minutes.  And to my delight, that she did!  But they could only spare an hour here because they had to move on to Pleasanton and do more shopping.

REWIND: Birthday flowers - February 12, 2012

I told my children that we should just skip my birthday celebration this year, since I already partially celebrated it in Savannah and spent most of my birthday on the plane ride coming back.

But Michael thoughtfully came home and brought me flowers anyway.

REWIND: Jacksonville Airport (JAX) - 2012

When we went to Savannah, we did it via Jacksonville, Florida.  That's where we rented a car for the 10 days that we were going to be in Savannah and Hilton Head Island.  It is about a 2-hour drive from there to Savannah.

The first time I went to the restroom in the Jacksonville airport, I wondered for a few minutes where and how to wash my hands.  Though I could see where the soap dispensers and the water taps were, I could not understand why there were no sinks!  Just take a look at this picture:
It took me a couple of minutes to realize that the counter sloped down toward the wall and that there was a narrow gutter and drainage along that wall.

Here are other pictures I took at the Jacksonville airport.
