REWIND: Improved Meyer Lemon - March 12, 2012

Here are some photos that I took of my Improved Meyer Lemon last March.

Meyer Lemon is a cross between a true lemon and a mandarin.  That explains the variety of fruit color on this tree.

The Meyer lemon fruit is rounder than a true lemon, according to Wikipedia.  Let's try to explain this one then.  Hahaha!  I think it's a twin lemon, a freak.

And look at the size of it!  That's my hand touching it.

See it compared to the other ripe lemons.

The "Improved" part of it's name means it's free of the Citrus tristeza virus.

REWIND: IHOP - March 10, 2012

Michael and Nadia and Chris and I had a late lunch at IHOP one lazy March Saturday.  As usual, I took pictures of us and of food in the restaurant.  Lunch was over and we were out in the parking lot getting ready to come home, when I thought of taking one more picture with IHOP in the background.  I asked them to stop so I could take the shot, at which point Michael said,  "It's not a special occasion.  Why are we taking pictures?"

Michael is my most tradition-loving child.  He is the one who goes the extra mile to make sure we celebrate every birthday and every holiday the conventional way.  Soon he will be getting married to his fiancee Nadia in a Catholic Church ceremony followed by a traditional wedding reception.  Michael is a family man.

But Michael does not have children yet.  He is not yet subject to that invisible force that parents feel.  He is not yet compelled to record every moment, freeze every scene, and take every picture -- special occasion or not.

A no-occasion photograph, a treasure nonetheless.

REWIND: Reuben - March 3, 2012

We went to Arby's to try their Reuben sandwich because I'd been craving for one for days.  Reuben sandwich (corned beef, swiss cheese, russian dressing, and sauerkraut, grilled between slices of rye bread) is one of my all-time favorite sandwiches.  But the Arby's version of the Reuben was nothing to write home about. The bread was too soft, and the cheese didn't taste like swiss cheese.  I won't be going back to Arby's anytime soon.

At least, he was happy.

REWIND: Amma's Restaurant - March 2, 2012

The Udupi Palace South Indian restaurant in the Newpark Plaza in Newark closed down  and was replaced by another Indian restaurant, Amma's.  We went to Amma's for the first time last March.

Amma's serves not just South Indian dishes, but Indo-Chinese food, as well.  The waiter was recommending Indo-Chinese dishes to us, but we were there to have South Indian food.  So South Indian is what he had.
